January has been insanely busy, so when Janice called needing a last minute session, it was going to be a stretch to fit her in. Once I heard her story, her “why,” I knew this was a session that I had to do.
Janice’s husband recently retired, and for the last 20 years, he proudly displayed a portrait that he took of Janice in his office. The portrait was taken on a dock in Thunderbolt, with a shrimp boat in the background. Somehow, the portrait was lost, and her husband was devastated.
Janice and her husband are celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks and Janice had the idea to recreate the portrait as a gift. So we did. And it was awesome. The dock is now dilapidated, but there was a shrimp boat in the background, and there was still enough dock in tact for us to capture the same pose that her husband captured so many years ago.
I asked Janice about the last time she was photographed professionally, and she told me that she couldn’t remember. Of course, this meant that we HAD to do some studio portraits! This was one of those feel good sessions and I cannot wait for Janice to see her beautiful portraits!
